Bernadine Combs Maloney, age 92, of Burnside, KY., passed away on Wednesday April 1, 2015 at her residence.
She was born on July 7, 1922 in the Brown Fork Community of Hazard, KY., to the late Ira and Eliza Smith Combs.
She was a Member of Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church and was a foster parent for twenty one years. She enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, flower gardening, embroidering, quilting, and pillow making.
Bernadine was preceded in death by her husband; Andrew Maloney, her parents; Ira and Eliza Combs, two sons; Robert “Buddy” Jones and Eugene Jones, one daughter; Rebecca Ann Prater, four brothers; Elmo Combs, Jerry Combs, Junior Combs, and Chandler Combs, three sisters; Irene “Sis” Gray, Anna Jean Combs, and Janice Hayes, and two grandchildren.
She is survived by one son; Ira James Montaigne of Burnside, KY., four daughters; Elizabeth (Eldridge “Eddie”) Pike of Russell Springs, KY., Marietta (James) Vanetta of Tennessee, Roberta (Larry) Thornsberry of Amory MS., and Teddie (and Bro. Danny) Staley of Burnside, KY., two sisters; Carol Bailey of Combs, KY. and Mary (Joe) Neppes of Norwood, OH., fifteen grandchildren and twenty five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday April 5, 2015 from 1pm to 3pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held on Sunday April 5, 2015 at 3pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Staley officiating.
Burial will follow in the Staley Farm Cemetery.
