Delmer Lee (Ham) Hensley, 79, of Casey County KY went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 11:00 PM. He was blessed to have his loving family by his side during his final hours. He was born June 4, 1935 in Kenvir, KY. He was raised in Harlan County KY where he met the love of his life, his wife of 59 years, Anita (Shorty) Hensley, who survives. He was a lifelong member of the Mason Lodge. He was a proud member of the Dayton IN volunteer fire department. He retired from National Homes in Lafayette IN and returned to KY in 1998. He enjoyed spending time with family & friends, riding his motorcycle & ranger, and mowing his property. He had a big heart and loved to help others.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children; son Delmer Jr. (wife Melaney) of Lafayette IN, daughter Rita Overmyer (husband CJ) of Warsaw IN, and son Randy (wife Ronda) of Indianapolis IN. He is survived by 4 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 3 sisters and is survived by 2 sisters; Jackie Horn (husband Tom) of Mulberry IN and Dorothy Doan of Evarts KY.

A Celebration of Life is planned on Friday, March 13, 2015 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at Southern Oaks Funeral Home, 2110 W Hwy 914, Somerset, KY.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Spinal Cord & Brain Injury Research Program at University of Kentucky Hospital, Office of Development, 343 Waller Ave., Suite 303, Lexington, KY 40504.
