Phillip Wilson, age 66, of Somerset, KY passed away on Thursday February 26, 2015 at UK Hospital.
He was born in Ingle, KY to the late Eston and Velma Roy Wilson.
He was a Vietnam Vet and served as a deacon and song leader for forty plus years at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Faubush, KY, and was also a former Sunday school teacher of the young adults there. He was a Pulaski County School Board Member for sixteen years where he refereed High School, JR High School, and State Wide Basketball. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and children and enjoyed fishing, watching UK Basketball, gardening, auctions, yard sales and antiquing.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents; Eston and Velma Wilson, one brother; Dewell Wilson, one sister-in-law; Jean Combest Wilson and one sister; Grace Howard.
He is survived by his wife; Debra Cook Wilson, of whom he married on May 1, 1971, two sons; Gregory (Amanda) Wilson of Somerset, KY and Jeremy (Anna) Wilson of St. Petersburg, FL., three brothers; William Cordell Wilson of Illinois, James Dale (Pat) Wilson of Somerset, KY., and Hulen (Carol) Wilson of Somerset, KY., one sister; Eloise (Joe) Love of Illinois, one brother-in-law; Ted Howard of Frankfort, KY., two grandchildren; Gavin Wilson and Paisley Wilson, and two step grandchildren; Treavor Brock and Payton Brock.
Visitation will be held on Sunday March 1, 2015 after 6pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday March 2, 2015 at 11am in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Patrick Patterson officiating.
Military Honors provided by the American Legion Honor Guard Post# 38. Pall Bearers will include; Brian Keith Wilson, Jim Howard, Barry Howard, Marty Wilson, Joel Wilson, Frank Love, and Doug Wilson.
Burial will follow in Mill Springs National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church General Fund in C/O Southern Oaks Funeral Home 2110 West Hwy 914 Somerset, KY 42503.
