Herman Combs, age 91, of Bronston, KY., passed away on Wednesday January 14, 2015 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

He was born on March 10, 1923 in Cordia, KY., to the late Allen “Tad” and Mary Martin Combs.

Herman was of Protestant Faith and lived in Ohio for 34 years before moving to Kentucky where he lived for 58 years. Herman was a Sargent in the Army and landed on Omaha Beach, Normandy – D Day in WWII, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He also was awarded an American Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal European, and African Middle Eastern Ribbon with 5 Bronze Stars.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Allen and Mary Combs, two sisters; Bessie and Ruth, and ten brothers; Roscoe, Markus, Amos, Woodrow, Lawrence, Dennis, Wayne, Thornton, Allen (Pete), and Clarence.

He is survived by his wife; Virginia Calhoun Combs, one son Bill (Jackie) Combs, two daughters; Brenda (and Johnnie) Brown, and Nancy (and Rick) Seeback, eight grandchildren; Sydney, Brian, Ansley, Jessica, Lindsay, Alaina, Holly and Jacob, eleven great-grandchildren and several loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday January 20, 2015 from 5pm to 9pm in the Chapel of Schlientz and Moore Funeral Home located at 1632 Wayne Ave. Dayton, OH 45410

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday January 21, 2015 at 11am in the Chapel of Schlientz and Moore Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Combs and Bro. Mark Combs officiating.

Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Dayton, OH.
