George Melvin Troxtell, age 78, of Somerset, KY., passed away on Sunday January 18, 2015 at his residence.
He was born on July 3, 1936 in Ferguson, KY. to the late Oliver and Trecie Nevels Troxtell.
George was a member of Denham Street Baptist Church and attended Cedar Grove Baptist Church. He was a former Union President of Amalgamated No. 611, an active member and a past Master of the Burnside Masonic Lodge# 634. He was also a former member of the Oleika Temple Shrine.
He is preceded in death by his parents Oliver and Trecie Troxtell, one brother; Charlie B. Troxtell, and a sister; Loretta Tucker.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Dick Troxtell of whom he married on December 24, 1966 in Wayne County. One brother; Ronnie (and Mary) Troxtell of Bronston, KY., a brother-in-law; Milton (and Arlene) Dick of Washington State, and a special caregiver; Alice Fairchild of Somerset Alzheimer’s Care Services.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday January 21, 2015 at 5pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Masonic Services at 7pm provided by the Burnside Masonic Lodge# 634.
Graveside Service will be held on Thursday January 22, 2015 at 11am at Lakeside Memorial Gardens with Bro. Ulanda Price and Bro. David Baker officiating.
Military Honors provided by the American Legion Honor Guard Post# 38.
Pall Bearers will include; Darnell New, Marty Kazsuk, Phillip Woodall, Gene “Bubbles” Tucker, Gary Tucker, and Ralph Keith.
Honorary Pall Bearers will be Ron Tucker and Robert Keith.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland and Somerset Alzheimer’s Care Services.
