Otto Smith, age 74 of Somerset, KY passed away on Sunday November 2, 2014 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born on July 16, 1940 to the late Robert and Alma Williams Smith in Hazard, KY.
Otto attended Acorn Church of God and enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing. In 1993, Otto retired from General Motors and fulfilled his dream of building his house back home in Kentucky.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Alma Smith and one brother, Larry Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Matilda Whitaker Smith, one son, John Robert Smith of Somerset, KY., one daughter, Amanda (Ben) Golden of Somerset, KY., five brothers, Tin Smith of Flint, MI., Robert Smith of Goodrich, MI., Jerry Smith of Hyden, KY., Bruce Smith of Avawam, KY., and Ronnie Smith of Hazard, KY., three sisters, Lillie Davidson of Flint MI., Gertrude Brewer of Marmaduke, AK., and Freda Whitaker of Hazard, KY., and two grandchildren, Johnna Rae Smith of Detroit, MI. and Ryleigh Sophia Golden of Somerset, KY.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday November 4, 2014 after 6pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday November 5, 2014 at 1pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Brother Gene Whitis officiating.
Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post #38
Burial will follow in Southern Oaks Cemetery.
