Retha Hatfield Boston Wood, age 81 of Burnside, KY., passed away on Sunday October 12, 2014 at The Gulfside Center for Hospice Care at Heather Hill in Newport Richey, FL.

She was born on August 4, 1933 in the Jabez Community in Russell County, KY., to the late William Vessie and Caldonia Johnson Hatfield.

Retha was of Baptist Faith and was a member at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Burnside, KY. She worked many years at Palm Beach and was a Restaurant Owner for 40 plus years including the Cherokee Restaurant and the Goodie Shack Restaurant. Her greatest joy was serving her customers and she will be greatly missed by family, friends, and church family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Wood, her parents, William and Caldonia Hatfield. Five brothers, Otha Hatfield, Royce Hatfield, Millard Hatfield, Arville Hatfield, and an infant brother, Lorene Hatifield. Two sisters, Margie Merrick and Maudine Turner, and one grandchild, Chris Cook. She is survived by one sister, Maxine Miller of Somerset, KY. Five children, Larry Cook of Burnside, KY., Judy Wilson, Charlotte (Tony) Brooks of Eubank KY., Charles Boston of Burnside, KY., and Joey (Beth) Boston of Monticello, KY., ten grandchildren, Codi Boston, Gloria (Doug) Vito, Clint Inabnit, Kristy(Jason) Keeney, Greg (Megan) Wilson, Amanda (Jason) Combs, Amber Brooks, Michael Brooks, Darrin Brooks, Taylor Boston, and Chris Boston And nine great grandchildren, Aiden Keeney, Peyton Keeney, Garrett Derek Wilson, Madi Brooks Vito, Jase Combs, Clay Combs, Haley Combs, Tyler Brooks, and Whitney Brooks. Visitation will be held on Sunday October 19, 2014 after 6pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Monday October 20, 2014 at 11am in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Brother David Baker officiating. Pall Bearers include Phillip Woodall, Greg Wilson, David Moss, Chris Boston, Darrin Brooks, and Codi Boston. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Cedar Grove Baptist Church fund in C/O Southern Oaks Funeral Home 2110 West Hwy 914 Somerset, KY 42503.
