Jerry D. Muse, age 79 of Ferguson, KY., passed away on Monday October 27, 2014 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center.
Jerry was born on October 4, 1935 to the late Terrill J. and Grace Wheeler Muse in Ferguson, KY. He was of Baptist Faith and for most of his life he attended Ferguson Methodist Church, but later in life he became a member of Denham Street Baptist Church.
Jerry was appointed the first fire chief of the Ferguson Volunteer Fire Department during its organizational period in the 1970’s. He continued to serve as a fire fighter for several years afterward. He loved family trips and vacations. He enjoyed his grandchildren, watching the UK Wildcats, Diet Cokes, and candy bars.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Terrill and Grace Muse, two sister-in-laws, Midred Muse and Glenda Muse, two brother-in-laws, Bishop Bumgardner and Marvin Stevens, and one nephew, Jeff Muse.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma Huddleston Muse, of whom he married on December 22, 1956 in Ringgold, GA. He is also survived by two sons, Brother David (Tammy) Muse of Somerset, KY and William H (Melissa) Muse of Somerset, KY., one daughter, Cindi (Carl) Phelps of Somerset, KY., three brothers, Bob (Betty) Muse of Charlotte, NC., Jim (Kimber) Muse of Ferguson, KY., and Mike Muse (Nelda Tarter) of Ferguson, KY., three sisters, Jean Bumgardner, Sandy Stevens, and Judy Muse, all of Somerset, KY., four grandchildren, Christy (Danny) Stevens, Heather Camille Phelps, Jeremy Cole Phelps, and Alexandra Grace Muse, 2 great grandchildren, Jacob Stevens and Bryson Stevens, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday October 29, 2014 from 5pm to 9pm.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday October 30, 2014 at 11am with Brother Alan Fisher, Brother Jeff Griffith, and Brother James Barleston officiating.Burial will follow in the Southern Oaks Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Gideon Memorial Bible Fund and Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
