Bobby Dean Gay age 69 of Somerset, Ky. passed away on Thursday August 7, 2014.
He was born on November 17, 1944 in Hazard, Ky. to the late Holt and Helen Estep Gay.
Bobby was of the Christian faith. He was retired from the United States Navy after twenty seven years of service and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, carpentry, woodworking and model ships and planes.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Holt and Helen Gay and his grandparents who raised him, Abe and Rellie Estep. Zena Madden, Hallie Catron, Pauline Perdue and Nancy Baker, all whom were raised as sisters. Also preceded in death by Birchell “Monk” Estep, Carl “Blue” Estep and Estill Estep all whom were raised as brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Gay of Somerset, Ky. One son, Jason Gay and his girlfriend, Char Sumler of Somerset, Ky. One daughter, Kelly (and Shonn) Anderson of Virginia Beach, Va. Two step-sons, Ken Richardson of Somerset, Ky. and Donny (Libby) Gramling of Nancy, Ky. Two step-daughters, Jennifer Flynn and her fiance Zack Morrow of Somerset, Ky. and Julie West of Somerset, Ky. One sister, Ruby Neace. Harold Estep, whom was raised as a brother and Leaona Keith, whom was raised as a sister. Grandchildren, Jacob Raikes, Elan Gay, Austin Keith, Andrea Richardson, Daniel Richardson, Alyssa Richardson, Steven Flynn, Madison Flynn, Nathan Gramling and Abby Gramling.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday August 13, 2014 at 11am in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday August 13, 2014 at 1pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Chaplain Clarence Floyd and Pastor Donny Gramling officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mill Springs National Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.
