Linda P. Brown
November 16, 1942 – October 3, 2026
Linda P. Brown, 83, passed peacefully in Somerset, Kentucky, on October 3, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born November 16, 1942, in Brazil, Indiana, Linda was the daughter of Roy Otis Moore and Vicie Moore. She was one of several brothers and sisters, many of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Frances Baker and her husband, Terry, of Indiana.
Linda leaves behind two children, daughter Dixie Tucker and her husband, Cliff, of Kentucky, and son Clarrel Lee Brown of Indiana; three grandchildren, Hayley Owens and her husband, Cody, of Kentucky, Nathan Brown of Arkansas, and Katie Brown of Indiana; two beloved great-granddogs; several nieces and nephews; numerous children she loved and regarded as her own grandchildren; and close friends whose companionship and presence meant more than words can express.
Linda was unmistakably herself. She was feisty, spirited, expressive, and endlessly curious about what everyone was doing and what was going on around her. She was always in-the-know and never afraid to tell you exactly what she thought. Those who knew her well will undoubtedly have stories that continue to bring a smile to their faces.
Her family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Somerset’s hospice nursing staff, who kept Linda comfortable, spoke words of kindness over her, cared for her with tenderness, and remained beside her and her family through her final moments.
The family is also grateful to Bro. Bill Fort, who faithfully visited Linda during her hospitalization, spending time with her and sharing the love of Jesus during the final weeks of her life.
Although those who loved Linda grieve the end of her earthly life, they are profoundly grateful for the mercy and peace that surrounded her final hours. After weeks of uncertainty, they are forever thankful to God for the answered prayer that her final day would be gentle, peaceful, and free from pain or fear.
In accordance with Linda’s wishes, she will be cremated, and no funeral service will be held. Her immediate family will gather for a private celebration of life.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Linda’s memory are encouraged to donate to an organization dedicated to cancer research, in hopes that continued research may bring more answers, more time, and more peaceful outcomes to families facing this disease.
Linda’s life cannot be summed up simply by dates, names, or a list of accomplishments. She was complicated, spirited, funny, stubborn, curious, and entirely her own person. She was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many.
And she will be remembered exactly as she was—unapologetically Linda.
