Ronald Scott “Scottie” Dalton, of Science Hill, Kentucky, passed away on September 26, 2026 at the age of 60.
Scottie was born on February 27, 1966, and was a lifelong resident of Science Hill; where he was born, raised, and always called home.
He spent much of his life working with his hands, building houseboats and fixing cars. Scottie was the kind of man who believed he could make just about anything work– whether he actually could never stopped him from trying.
His love for anything with an engine went well beyond work. He loved cars, motorcycles, dirt track racing, and NASCAR. Some of his happiest times were spent around friends and family; especially if there was a little joking involved. It was always a good day if there was a cheeseburger or a Little Debbie cake somewhere nearby.
Scottie also had a special place in his heart for his dogs. Over the years, they were more than pets to him-They brought him comfort, companionship, and plenty of happiness.
Scottie was goofy, stubborn, mischievous, sentimental, and entirely himself. He was often a man of few words, but he never hesitated to say the words that mattered. He made sure the people he loved knew it and always told his daughters how proud he was of them.
Like all of us, Scottie was imperfect. He had his flaws, made his mistakes, and had his share of hard days. But through it all, he loved his family deeply and always tried his best. At his core, he was a man with a tender heart who loved his people, enjoyed a good joke, and found his own ways-sometimes quiet, sometimes not-to show how much he cared.
Scottie was preceded in death by his wife, Sheila, who passed away on May 12, 2005, his best friend Jeff Dick, as well as his mother, father, and several other cherished family members who held a special place in his heart.
He leaves behind his four daughters, Nikki Kimrey and husband Jack, Kristen Dalton (and Jon Stevens), McKenzie Vaught, and Stephanie Beach; four grandchildren, Ezra Kimrey, Tyler Jones, Makayla Jones, and Hailey Griffin; his sisters, Tami Brady and husband Teddy, Kristi Cassada; and two very close friends, Rod and Della. Along with extended family members and friends who will carry countless memories of him with them.
For his daughters, Scottie leaves behind more than memories. He leaves the sound of his jokes, the stories they will tell about him, the things he taught them, and the certainty that their dad loved them and was proud of them.
His visitation will be at Southern Oaks Funeral Home on Friday October 2, 2026 from 4-6pm. Followed by the funeral from 6-7pm.
