Melody Doris “Sparkie” Harris age 58, Burnside, Kentucky, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
Melody was born on October 15, 1967 to the late Louis Harris and Helen Hinkle Harris in Somerset, Kentucky.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Gary Whitaker, Steven Whitaker, and Michael Whitaker and sister Barbara Maxwell.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, brother Lewis Harris (Jean) of Burnside; sisters Mary Lou Harris of Science Hill, Ky; Betty Conway (Chad) of Independence, Ky and Peggy Harris (Dale) of Somerset, Ky; one uncle Paul Hinkle, special friend Dale Bessette, friends from Amvets and friends at the Cove; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was an amazing daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved her family fiercely. Although she had no children of her own, she was a very hands-on aunt. Always up for any adventure they came up with.
Her great nieces helped check skydiving off her bucket list this past year, she was gifted with a sibling trip to the Outer Banks to see wild horses on the beach. Melody AKA- Sparkie was and will always be loved and cherished. She loved her cats “Jake” and “Sissy” and was the best cat Mom ever.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 2pm at Ferguson School Community Center with Pastor Lee Harrison officiating.
