Geraldine Nicholas, age 94, of Somerset, KY passed away Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Born May 3, 1932, in Hickory Nut, Somerset, KY, to John and Lida Roy. She was a dedicated wife, (as well as military wife) mother and granny. After Frank’s retirement from the military, she worked at First and Farmers Bank for over 25 years.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank Nicholas, her baby, Frank Allen Nicholas, Jr., her daughter, Debbie Heckman-Morgan, Son-in-law, Kenneth Heckman, her grandson, Brian Heckman, her stepmother, Vella Roy, her brother, Ralph Roy and special friends, Virginia Roy, Delores Van Saun and Dale Jolly.
She is survived by her daughters, Penny Caudill (Jim Caudill) and April Nicholas. Her grandchildren, Christie, Keith (Jenny), Nicholas, April Dawn, Ryan (Shellie), Kent (Caroline) and Benjamin (Nikita). And15 great grandchildren, Kyle, Kendra, Sydney, Lane, Camryn, Addison, Pierson, Adelynn, Kysen, Layne, Piper, Landen, Logan, Lily and Colton. Her sisters, Carol Lane (Phillip) and Lana West. Along with several nieces and nephews. Also, Charles, Kevin, Amanda and Cathy.
It is hard to find the words to say goodbye to a woman who left so much love behind.
She was the queen of fried chicken, always knew how to make everyone feel at home, and had a heart as beautiful as the flowers she grew and loved. She found joy in family beach vacations, never turned down good chocolate or an ice-cold coke, and shared her love so freely with everyone lucky enough to know her.
Her home was always open to whomever needed a place to visit or stay. She welcomed everyone. The most cherished times of her life was being able to take care of her grandbabies and great grandbabies. Nothing made her happier then holding, rocking, bathing, and caretaking each and every one of them. She loved to lie in the middle of the floor and take a nap with all the grandkids running around her and squealing.
The little things will remind us of you; a blooming flower, the sound of the waves, and sweet treats shared with family. Those memories will live on in our hearts forever.
Thank you for your love, laughter, and countless memories. You will be deeply missed, but your kindness and the way you made people feel will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026 at Oak Hill Baptist Church at 10am-11am with a
funeral service at 11am with Bro. Gary Phelps officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill
Cemetery.
