Joseph “Joe” M. Strunk, age 69, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Joe was born on April 7, 1957 to Beecher Strunk and Cleta Davis Spears in Somerset, Kentucky.
He enjoyed deer hunting, was a builder, a diesel mechanic and retired from South Kentucky RECC. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and he was of the Baptist faith. Joe was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son and brother.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Beecher Strunk, his son Lukus Strunk, and his sister, Connie Baker.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 47 years, Tammie Strunk, his mother, Cleta Spears of Somerset; daughter Allison Wilson (Justin), brothers: BJ Strunk (Janie) and Kenny Strunk, sisters Linda Fisher (Eddie) all of Somerset; Cathy Mayne (Robert) of Tennessee; former brother-in-law, Randy Baker (Cindy) also of Somerset; grandchildren: Jazlyn, Aubrey, and Luciana; along with a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026 from 10am-12pm in the Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with a funeral service to begin at 12pm with Bro. Alan Fisher and Bro. Isaiah Super officiating. Burial will follow in Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Honor Guard Post #38.
