Roy Gleason Cooper, Age 87 of Ferguson, KY passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014 in the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center unit of Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born in the Elihu community of Somerset, KY on October 7, 1926 to the late Preston and Maggie Phelps Cooper. He was a U.S. Army veteran whom served in WWII, a 1944 graduate of Ferguson High School and a graduate of Rogers Business School of Somerset. He was the Co-owner and operator of Cooper Brothers Chevron and a member of the Ferguson Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma Jean Sumner Cooper; and two brothers, Paul and Elmer Cooper.

He is survived by a son, Tim (and Angela) Cooper of Ferguson, KY; two daughters, Tammy Cooper-West of Ferguson, KY and Catherine (and Aaron) Cooper-Zimmerman of Lexington, KY; four brothers, Ray (and Edith) Cooper of the Elihu Community, Somerset, KY, Frank (and Louise) Cooper and Stanley Cooper of Ferguson, KY and Thurman Cooper of Lexington, KY; two grandchildren, Brian West and Tylen Cooper and a great grandson, Austin West along with his nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 27th, 2014 after 6:00pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 28th, 2014 at 1:00pm at Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Jason Moore officiating.

Burial will be in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
