Ronald Wayne Phelps, age 70 of Somerset passed away on Saturday May 10, 2014 at the Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center.
He was born on February 23, 1944 in Eubank, Ky. to the late James and Thelma Harrington Phelps.
Ronald was a member of the Eden Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of the United States Army where he proudly served as a Military Policeman, enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, loved the outdoors and watching squirrels.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Thelma Phelps. His wife, Lucille Davis Phelps. One son, Larry Phelps. Two brothers, Johnny Phelps and Rothel Phelps. One great-grandson, Alexzander Bolin.
He is survived by three sons, Tony (Garnedia) Phelps of Science Hill, Ky., James (Rhonda) Phelps of Somerset, Ky. and Steven (Lisa) Phelps of Somerset, Ky. Three brothers, Harvey (Dorothy) Phelps of Somerset, Ky., Robert Phelps and Joe (Kathy) Phelps of Campbellsville, Ky. Two sisters, Kay Keeney of Somerset, Ky and Patsy (Charlie) Crowe of Ga. Seven grandchildren, Jessie (Stephanie) Johnson, Dustin Phelps, Brandon (Shauna) Phelps, Sarah Elizabeth (Jed) Lawrence, John Phelps, Ashton Phelps and Ashley (Brandon) Bowling. Seven great-grandchildren, Zoey Lawrence, Mallory Phelps, Jenna Phelps, Macie Phelps, Natalie Bolin, Jadon Bolin and Hannah Bolin.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday May 14th after 10am in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday May 14th at 2pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Phelps officiating.
Burial will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Tony Phelps, James Phelps, Steven Phelps, Dustin Phelps, John Phelps and Harold Pence. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ashley Bolin and Sarah Elisabeth Lawrence.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Ronald Phelps Memorial Fund.
