Gilbert D. Carter, age 64, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at his home.
Gilbert was born on February 16, 1961 to the late Garriest Carter and Ruby Martin Conley Carter in Stanford, Kentucky.
He was of the Pentecostal faith and an ordained minister. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, watching NASCAR racing and spending time with his family.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Carter, father and stepmother: Garriest and Regenia Sue Carter, a daughter, Danielle R. Carter, granddaughter Mary E. Wren, Natasha Benien siblings: Estel V. Bullock and Ruby A. Sherry, paternal grandparents: William M. and Dessie Carter, maternal grandparents: Wardie and Lucy Conley.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 42 years, Judith Hernandez Carter, children: Tausha M. Gifford (Michael), William B. Lewis (Rebecca), Regenia D. Carter, Ruby A. Benien (Kenneth) all of Somerset, Ky; Rachel D. Wren (Shaun) of Waynesburg, Ky; Rebecca D. Simms (Bart) of Danville, Ky; grandchildren: Hunter C. Gifford, Blake M. Gifford, Ethan C. Gifford, Caleb D.L. Lewis, Summer L. N.M. Lewis, Jeremiah D. Dugger, Jaxon D. Dugger, Kaelan T. Benien, Jessica N. Benien, Brian A. Benien, all of Somerset, Ky, Lovisa A. Wolfe, and Aurora G. Wolfe of Monticello, Ky, Trent Wren and Trevon Wren of Science Hill, Ky; Brooklyn Poirier of Waynesburg, Ky, Zackery Simms of Danville, Ky; great-grandchildren: Layla F. Guffey,; brother Terrence L. Bullock of OH; sisters: Rita D. Townsend of MA and Lana J. LaMar of AL; son-in-law Jared Roberts of New Zealand; sister-in-law Leneta K. Bullock of OH; brother-in-law Frank Sherry of OH; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be no services at this time. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Gilbert D. Carter.
