Penny Gibson, age 59 of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
She was born on November 29, 1965 in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of Janie Howard Blanton and the late Danny Blanton, Sr.
She had worked at Oakwood as a Patient Care Provider and was of the Baptist faith. She loved traveling, going to the beach and to Gatlinburg. Most of all she loved and cherished her family, especially her grandchildren, who she loved playing and spending time with. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her mother, Janie Blanton; son, Jonathan (Ashley) Gibson of Bronston; daughter, Valerie Gibson (Dillard Caudill) of Nancy; brothers, Gabe (Christy) King, Danny (Heather) Blanton and John (Brandii) Blanton; sister, Jessica Blanton; grandchildren, Collin Gibson, Carson Gibson and Kinsley Gibson.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with Bro. Danny Blanton, Jr. officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Penny Gibson Memorial Fund, C/O Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
