Darrell Baker, age 59 of Nancy, passed away on Saturday May 10, 2014 at the UK Medical Center.
He was born on May 25, 1954 in Remington, Indiana to the late Irvin Taylor Baker and Juanita Simpson Munsey.
Darrell was a member of the Heritage Hope Church of God. He was employed by Armstrong Flooring. Before that, he had been employed with Crane Plumbing for thirty plus years. A member of Nancy High School Class of 1972. He enjoyed working, being with his family, especially the grandbabies, riding his motorcycle, farming and loved riding with his brother Charles.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Irvin Taylor Baker and Juanita Simpson Munsey. His step-father, Garnest Munsey Jr. and his mother-in-law, Mary Kathryn Holmes.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Holmes Baker whom he married on November 3, 1973 in Nancy, Ky. One son, Lance Baker of Nancy, Ky. and one daughter, Angie (Mike) Truett of Nancy, Ky. One brother, Charles (Michelle) Munsey of Nancy, Ky. One sister, Connie (Shannon) Smith of Nancy, Ky. Three grandchildren, Chandler Justin Truett, Paige Truett, Sophia Baker and his father-in-law, Edgar “Pa” Holmes of Columbia, Ky. Also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, family and many many friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 13th after 5pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday May 14th at 11am in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Dunbar and Bro. Charles Holmes officiating.
Burial will follow in the Southern Oaks Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Charles Munsey, Mike Truett, Gary Simpson, Lance Baker, Shannon Smith, Kody Smith, “JR” Henry Rose and Hunter Simpson.
