Isolde I. Esteve, age 92, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
She was born on April 24, 1933, in Mannheim, Germany, daughter of the late Albert Munchousen and Anastasia Van Claven-Munchousen.
Isolde had lived in Kentucky for the past 3 years, but lived in Petersburg, Virginia, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Colorado Springs, Colorado. She married Robert Meiderhoff in 1965, who was in the US Army in Germany, and they later returned to Fort Lee, Virginia. In 1980 she married Harry Esteve, who was in the US Air Force. She is a WWII survivor and helped her sister escape Eastern Germany after the war. She was an angel to many US Veterans, having worked as a Veterans Administration ER Nurse for 20+ years. Isolde was a cat lover and an amazing cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Eleonor “Agi” Agnes Gaura; her sister, Sonja Munchousen; and her husband, Harry Esteve.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Martin Gaura, and his wife, Laura, of Monticello, KY and Tristian Gaura of Nevada.
Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 8, 2025 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home to celebrate the life of Isolde.
