Donald Ray Scantland, age 73 of Nancy, KY. passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Scantland was born to the late Harlin Winters Scantland and Martha Coffee Scantland on January 13, 1941 in Jackson County Tennessee. He served in the United States Navy and retired from General Motors in Ohio. He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping and the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harlin Winters Scantland and his mother, Martha Coffee Scantland, his wife Janice Scantland and two sisters, Hazel Belcher and Jennie Snyder.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory a son, Curt Scantland of Dayton, Ohio, a daughter Alesa Smith, of Dayton Ohio, one grandson, three granddaughters and one great-grandson; three brothers; James (Theresa) Scantland of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Bill (Louise) Scantland, Florida, and Arnold (Margaret) Scantland, West Palm Florida. Two sister; Opel Taylor of West Virginia and Linda Scantland of Nevada and his fiancee’; Drema Brown.
Visitation for Mr. Scantland will be Tuesday, April 29, 2014 beginning at 10 am in the Memory Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 pm in the Memory Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Burial for Mr. Scantland will be at the Pottershop Cemetery in Faubush, Ky.
