Lucian Earl Gower Jr. 
July 11, 1963 – June 25, 2025
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
It is with great sorrow that the family of Lucian Earl Gower JR. announce his passing from this life and his departure into Heaven to be with our Lord and Savior at the age of 61. Lucian passed away peacefully at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY on June 25, 2025, after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer with his wife and daughters by his side. The family would like to express their greatest appreciation to all the nurses and doctors who aided in Lucian’s care. Lucian was born on July 11, 1963, at 6038th United States Air Force Misawa Air Base Hospital in Misawa-shi, Aomoriken, Japan to the late Lucian Gower SR. and Virgina Pratt Gower. Lucian met his wife and soul mate Verla (De De) Pingleton
Gower at Lockhead Martin in Madisonville, KY whom he married on September 27, 1995. Lucian was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Madisonville, KY. Lucian was a retired licensed insurance agent for Health Markets. Lucian was known for his charming personality, his love of reading books, history and Alabama football. Lucian was preceded in death by his father Lucian Gower SR. and his baby brother Robert Gower. Lucian is survived by his wife of 29 years Verla (De De) Pingleton Gower, his children Mackenize (Kenzie) Pingleton (AJ Crutcher) and Alexandria (Ali) Gower-Epperson (Jared Epperson), his grandchildren Aleyah Epperson, Liam Epperson and Connor Epperson, his mother Virgina Gower, and his siblings, Lois Gower, Timothy Gower (Selena), and Michael Gower, and a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great great-nieces and nephews.
True to his nature, Lucian wanted no fuss so the family will honor his wish, and a celebration of life will be scheduled later with Rev. Lon Lorton formerly of First Presbyterian Church in Madisonville, KY officiating. In lieu of flower the family requests any donations to be made to the American Cancer Society. Southern Oaks Funeral Home in Somerset, KY have been entrusted with Lucian’s arrangements.
