Mima Faye Hoskins, age 92 of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
She was born on May 9, 1933, in Jackson, Kentucky, daughter of the late Lawrence Kelly and Maude Watkins Rice.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Somerset. She graduated from the University of Louisville and became a Dental Hygienist in 1956.She had worked at Oakwood and retired from there when she was 86 years old. She also was the owner of several Samoyed Dogs including Edel, a Canadian National Grand Champion. She spent 25 years in Saudi Arabia and lived in Somerset for several years leaving behind many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Reid Hoskins; brother, Dr. John Clay Rice; nephew, Hager Rice; great-niece, Catherine Watts; great-nephew, Kevin Rice; her maternal grandmother, Mima Watkins and her beloved fur babies Edel, Leader, Kathy and Jake; along with special cousin, Mima Jean Allen (PG).
She is survived by nephews, Lawrence Rice of Jackson and Frank (Michele) Rice of Lawrenceburg; nieces, Angie Rice of Richmond, Susie Chapman of Jackson and Pam Rice of Richmond; great-niece, Elizabeth (Quill) Garrett, Karisha (Chris) Friley and Sarah (Josh) Stewart; great-nephews, David Rice, Jeremy (Jerri) Rice, Larry (Brittani) Rice, Eddie (Kate) Rice, Jonathan (Kendra) Chapman and James (Wendy) Rice; sister-in-law, Geraldine Rice of Jackson; and her beloved fur baby, Oscar;special cousins, Mike Stidham and Jessie Hogue; special friends, Drucella and Darrell Johnson, Laney Johnson, Elaine and Albert Whitson, David Foster, Keith and Christine Sinclair and Lynn and Jim Ashbrook. She is also survived by numerous beloved great great-nieces and great great-nephews.
Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Fort officiating. Burial will be Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. CST at Fairview Cemetery in Bowling Green, KY. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Aspire Appalachia, P.O. 1255 Jackson, KY 41339.

So sorry for your loss. I only knew her through family stories. She led a very interesting life. I am sure she will be missed.
