Ricky Jay Bridges passed from this life on Tuesday, March 4 2014. He was a beloved grandfather, father, son, brother, and friend. He was preceded in death by maternal and paternal grandparents and his favorite Uncle, Lance Bridges. He is survived by his parents, JD and Nancy Bridges, of Bronston, KY, a son, Justin Bridges, of Somerset, a daughter, Karla Kline, of West Milton, OH, three grandchildren, Mya, Harlowe, and Raymond, a Brother, Mark (and Terry) Bridges, a Sister, Linda (and Bruce) Baker two Uncles, Leslie (and Chris) and Amos (and Gene) Bridges, and many close friends. He always had a smile on his face, and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. He loved the lake, fishing, music and telling stories. He was always the life of the party never had a bad thing to say about anyone. He could make a friend in five minutes anywhere in the world. He had a kind heart and a gentle soul. He never complained and always looked to see the good in everything. He was the one person you could always count on to be there when you needed him most. He was a good man. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Era, and a member of Bronston Baptist Church. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 9th at Southern Oaks Funeral home from 6pm-8pm. We ask anyone who wishes to please say a few words about Rick or share a story at the visitation. A celebration of life will be on Tuesday at 1pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at Mill Springs National Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by the American Legion Post #38. Rick will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
