Lisa Joyce Hudson New, born on November 9, 1957, went to be with her Heavenly Father on March 2, 2014 after a bout with brain cancer. She had a strong and real faith with the Lord Jesus Christ.
She was the second daughter of six children of Mary Hudson, Berea, KY and the late Alvin Husdon, Somerset, KY. She was the daughter in law of Jim and Faye McIntosh of LaGrange, KY. Carolyn New was Lisa’s step mother in law and the late J. S. New was her father in law. Lisa has one son, Brian Paul Evans, Somerset, KY.
Before her disability, Lisa worked for Fresenius Medical Care as a patient services specialist and marketer in Louisville, KY. She had been with the company since 1996, working in Somerset and transferred to Louisville in 1997. Lisa enjoyed her job and meeting people. She previously worked for Burger Queen, Wester Steer and Lake Cumberland Medical Associates, all in Somerset, KY. She was a Kentucky Colonel and recieved an award from Fresenius for going above and beyond the call of duty as an admissions supervisor.
When Lisa met Delane New in 1996, she knew he was her soulmate. She moved to LaGrange, KY in 1997. They were married on February 14, 2002.
Lisa was preceded in death by her father, Alvin Lewis Hudson, Somerset, KY. paternal grandparents, Hector and Lona Hudson, Ferguson, KY and maternal grandparents, Delbert and Kate Hill, Ferguson, KY.
Lisa is survived by her loving husband and ever faithful caregiver, Delane New. Her son, Brian Evans, Bronston, KY. Granddaughter, Kayce Jane Evans, Shelbyville, KY. Grandson, Taylor Price, Shelbyville, KY. Mother, Mary Hudson (Ron Saylor) Berea, Ky. Caregiver and mother-in-law, Faye McIntosh (Jim) LaGrange, KY. Step mother-in-law, Carolyn New, Somerset, KY. Sisters, Donna (Bob) Hollis, Plymouth, Mass., Delana “Janie” Hudson, Lexington, KY and Kendra Hudson, Berea, KY. Brothers, David Hudson, New Orleans, Louisiana and John (Carla) Hudson of Lexington, KY. Special ex-daughter-in-law, Jamielyn Price and her family, granddaughter Kayce Evans, Brian Price and Taylor Price of Shelbyville, KY.
Lisa has numerous cousins, aunts, nieces and nephews scattered throughout the country. Numerous friends scattered throughtout the country as well as at home in LaGrange, Louisville and Somerset.
She was baptized by Bro. Bradshaw at Calvary Baptist Church in Somerset, KY. She was a member of LaGrange Christian Church of the Deciples of Christ Faith. She was on the Missions Committee at the time of her illness. She enjoyed Sunday School class and volunteered at Wayside Christian Missions in Louisville, KY. she enjoyed being a part of Touched Twice United Missions. She also enjoyed Oldham County Days activities.
Lisa hosted and attended events in her capacity of patient service specialist and marketing such as health fair booths, festivals and social worker/dr. office staff appreciation luncheons.
She had two ex-spouses, Paul Evans and Gene Whitter. Paul Evans is the father of her only child, Brian Paul Evans, who was born on February 14, 1976.
Lisa loved to play the piano, sing, sew and quilt. She and her husband enjoyed going to the Mardi Gras in New Orleans, baseball games and car races, especially the Indy 500. They enjoyed traveling and going to the flea markets. She loved listening to old time rock and roll, especially the Beatles. Lisa and Kayce Jane played games on the computer and loved playing board games. Lisa was a devout Christian having accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at the age of 9.
At the time of her illness she was attending Ashford University. She was working on her Bachelors of Arts in Health Care Administration. She had a 4.0 GPA and made the Deans List each quarter. She was also in the Golden Key Scholarship Club. She enjoyed going back to school.
Visitation will be held on Thursday March 6, 2014 after 5pm in the Memory Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday March 7, 2014 at 2pm in the Memory Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Rev. Don Naftz officiating.
Burial will follow in the Southern Oaks Cemetery.
