Raymond Wayne Poynter, age 77, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Jean Waddle Care Center at Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
Raymond was born on February 27, 1948 to the late Raymond Poynter and Christeen Nolan Poynter in Mt. Victory, Kentucky.
He was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed farming, camping, fishing and the outdoors. He proudly served in the United States Air Force in Vietnam. He worked for Crane Plumbing for over 30 years and retired from Southern Bell Dairy.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Christeen Nolan Poynter and a sister, Geraldine Simpson.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Joyce Poynter of 50 years, son Jeffery Poynter (Lori) of Somerset, Ky; daughter Cindy Poynter Wallace (Gary) of Science Hill, Ky; brother Stephen Poynter of Somerset, Ky; sisters: Precilla Stogsdill (Cecil) of Science Hill, Ky; Betty Walker (Gary) of Roachdale, IN; Sarah Lark of Danville, IN; Sue Farmer of Science Hill, Ky; granddaughter Sadie Brooklynn Wallace and brother-in-law, Bill Simpson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2025 from 5pm to 9pm in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025 at 1pm at the funeral home with Bro. Dalous Sears officiating. Burial will follow in Poplarville Cemetery.
Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Honor Guard Post #38. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Raymond Wayne Poynter.
