Jeffrey David Scott Bates, age 30, of Somerset, KY passed away on Wednesday February 19, 2014 in Somerset, KY.
He was born on September 27, 1983 in El Paso, TX to Lester Bates, Jr. and Sharlon Scott Bates.
Jeff was a self-employed carpenter and was of the Protestant faith. He moved to Somerset, KY thirteen years ago from Centre, AL and played high school basketball and football.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Junior Scott.
He is survived by his father, Lester Bates, Jr. of Pikeville, KY and his mother, Sharlon Scott Bates of Martin, KY. One son, Dylan Grider and one daughter, Alexis Grider both of Russell Springs, KY. His fiance, Connie Grider. Grandparents, Lester and Joyce Bates of the Slate Branch Community and Vinetta Scott of Somerset, KY. Two aunts, Kathy (Bobby) Scott of Somerset, KY and Bonita (Butch) Scott of Alabama. Two uncles, Donald Scott of Bypro, KY and Frankie (Lisa) Scott of Weeksbury, KY. One brother, Kevin Hall of Somerset, KY and one sister, Leslie Bates of Somerset, KY.
Visitation will be held on Saturday February 22, 2014 from 6pm until 9pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday February 23, 2014 at 2pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Griffith and Bro. Steve Mullins officiating.
Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be, Phillip KIng, Todd Dean, Kevin Hall, Butch Scott, Bobby Scott, Donald Scott, Zane Hall, Frank Scott and Jeremy Landrum.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the church of your choice.
