Mary Wheeler, age 68 of Bronston, Kentucky, passed from this life on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
She was born on October 20, 1956 in Hazard, Kentucky, daughter of the late Charles and Edna Combs Mercer. She was a retired CMA and a member of the Presbyterian faith. She enjoyed reading, especially books by Stephen King, shopping, listening to podcasts and cooking for her family, especially their favorite, “green beans and cornbread.” Mary was a very proud Mimi of five and loved being a mama to her three children. She was a special aunt to many, especially to Michelle (John) Mullins and Jason (Kendra) Mercer. She is leaving behind several friends, including Angie Rice, who was her best friend for decades. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and numerous brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Dills Wheeler; daughters, Caitlyn (Samuel) Garcia of Lexington, KY and Jamie (Donald) Webb of Yorktown, VA; son, Zachary (Constance) Wheeler of Cynthiana, KY; brother, Bootsie Mercer of Hazard, KY; and her grandchildren, Jackson, Kyra, Jaelyn, Ashtyn and Teddy.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m.
