It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William Barney Young, a cherished resident of Monticello, Kentucky, who left this world on December 24, 2024.

Born on November 13, 1963 in Big Hill, Kentucky, William was a beacon of love and kindness to all who knew him. William was the beloved son of Wayne Young and Elizabeth Webb Young, both of whom preceded him in death.
He shared a beautiful life with his devoted wife that he loved more than anything Regina Lee Whittamore Young, whom he married on October 13, 1983. Their union was blessed with a loving family, including his son Bradley Hatton and daughter-in-law Julie, who brought immense joy to his life. A proud and doting grandfather, William adored his five grandchildren: Draven, ShayLee, Jenna, Holly, and MaKenlee. His sister, Virgina Young, survives him, cherishing the memories they made together. William dedicated many years to his career as a construction worker before retiring. In his leisure time, he found serenity and joy in fishing, often sharing tales of his adventures by the water. In later years, him and Regina moved to Monticello, KY to be closer to his son and family. He took great pleasure in accompanying his son to work and spending precious moments with his wife and grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love. Known for his warm laughter, William had a remarkable ability to brighten any room he entered. His heart was as beautiful as it was pure, leaving a mark on the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. A loving husband, father, papaw, son, and brother, William’s absence will be deeply felt by all who loved him. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Barabara Jean Cates. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the profound impact he had on our lives, knowing that life will never be the same without him.
A service to honor William’s life will be held at Southern Oaks Funeral Home on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Focht and Bradley Hatton officiating. Visitation will begin at noon on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pilot Knob Cemetery in Berea, Kentucky. Pallbearers will include Bradley Hatton, Draven White, Dustin Meadors, Arlie Trusty, Jacob Gregory, and Shawn Garrett.
