Michael “Mike” Whitson, age 55 of Somerset, Ky passed away on Sunday January 5, 2014.
He was born on September 8, 1958 in Cincinnati, OH to Holly Hardwick Whitson and the late John Whitson.
Mike was a Class of 1976 Shopville High School graduate and of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews, loved baseball and sports in general, especially UK Basketball.
He is preceded in death by his father and one brother, Gary Whitson.
He is survived by his mother, Holly Whitson of Barnesburg, KY. Nieces, Misti Coffey, Sheri (Jacob) Holloway and Jodi Whitson. Nephew, Jonathan Whitson. Great nephew, Chris Holloway. Great-nieces, Megan Coffey, Morgan Coffey, Kaitlyn Holloway, Anna Whitson, Martina Cummings, Abby Whitsonand Emily Baker. Aunts, Ruby Vaught, Rose Jackson, Clora Tull and Jewell Sewell. Uncle, Doyle Hardwick. Also survived by many cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday January 9, 2014 after 6pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday January 10, 2014 at 1pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. David Meece officiating.
Burial will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations by made to the Pine Hill Cemetery or God’s Helping Hands.
