Howard Samuel Roberts, age 86 of the Bronston community passed away on Saturday January 4, 2014 at Somerwoods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born on February 3, 1927 in the Betsey Community of Wayne County, KY to the late Ben and Margaret Black Roberts.
He was a retired self-employed homebuilder and a member of Faith United Baptist Church in Monticello, KY. Howard was a joyful giver and enjoyed working, doing lawn work and being with his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lewis Roberts.
Howard is survived by his wife, Lois Bolin Roberts, whom he married on June 1, 1967 in TN., one son, Delynn Gibson of the Slate Branch Community, three daughters, Reba (Larry) Crabtree of Monticello, KY, Carol Sue (Benny Jr.) Dobbs of Fort Polk, LA, and Diana (Kenneth) Ball of McCreary Co. KY. Howard enjoyed six grandchildren, Cody Gibson, Dustin Smith and Justin Smith, Heather Dobbs-Whittington, Melody Lay, Charles Ball Sr., and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Sharon Cox, Andrea Simpson and Deby Coffey, all of Monticello, KY. who were like daughters to Howard. Additionally he is survived by his good friend, Juan Pottin, of Somerset, KY.
Visitation will be held on Monday January 6, 2014 after 3pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday January 6, 2014 at 5pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Daniel Richardson and Bro. Bill Haynes officiating.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday January 7, 2014 at 1pm at the Southern Oaks Cemetery.
