David Donald Hammer, age 31 of Somerset passed away on Wednesday December 11, 2013 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. David was born in Eureka California on August 8, 1982 to Calvin James Hammer and Patricia Mason Hammer.
“Hammer” was loved by all and he touched so many lives during his short time here in Somerset.
He worked as a Marine Mechanic at Lake Cumberland Marine, where he worked closely with his best friend and mentor Steve Lopez specializing in the hi-performance boating industry. He enjoyed going fast on the water, listening to music, and mostly loved life. David was also a member of the KAOTIK Car club in Florida in which both he and his sister participated.
He was taken from us much too soon in a tragic accident on Wednesday December 11th. God must have needed an angel… to fix something. He will be Dearly missed by all.

David leaves behind to cherish his memory, his father, Calvin James Hammer, Jr.; mother, Patricia Mason Hammer; sisters, Christine Catherine Pehrson, Lisa Marie Wulf, Dee Dee Diane Hammer, Angela Lopez; brother in laws, Brian Wulf, Wayne Pehrson, Steve Lopez; nephews, Andrew Wayne Pehrson, Joseph Scott Pehrson, Carter James Hammer; Niece, Katie Malana Wulf; Along with many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Memorial services were held Saturday December 14, 2013 at 7 P.M. in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. David Bullock officiating.
Interment was in the Southern Oaks Cemetery.
