Arthur John Bolze, Age 82, of the Boat Dock Road community passed away Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Eastern Kentucky VA Medical Center. Born in Stanton Island, New York on June 03, 1931 to the late Arthur Theodore and Matilda Banonski Bolze. He was a United States Army Korean War veteran, whom was active in the VFW. He retired as a contractor with the AGB Corporation. For years he was known as the video “Game King” at the flea market, after he retired, as a hobby. Formerly GS5 crew foreman with the Pine Knot Conservation Corporation, he taught engineer skills and was instrumental in construction of state parks, trails, south fork, and worked with wayward youth. He was also a former State Representative candidate and attended the Methodist Church. Mr. Bolze never met a stranger and will be remembered by all knew him by his contagious smile.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Scott Douglas Bolze; two sisters, Tilly Cole and Jeanie Marsee. He is survived by his former wife, Betty Jo Kennedy Bolze of Lexington, KY; sons Arthur John Jr (Karen Lynn) Bolze, Jeffrey Bruce Bolze, both of Somerset, and Kevin Jerome Bolze of Lexington, KY; 3 nieces; 2 nephews; ½ brother, Jackie Hertz of FL; sister Margie Palano of Manhatten; Grandchildren, Brittany Aleah Bolze and Alyssa Noelle Bolze; and Great Grandchildren, Shawn Lee Bolze and Aleah Shay Bolze.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 10th after 5:00pm in the Memory Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 11th at Noon at Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Dr. Richard Held officiating. Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery. The American Legion Post 38 Honor Guard will conduct full military honors. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Burnside United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 536, Burnside, KY or to the St. Judes Children Hospital. Southern Oaks Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
