Karen Scott age 58 of Burnside, Kentucky, passed from this life on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at her home.
She was born on September 6, 1964 in Pikeville, Kentucky, the daughter of Delphia Rogers Thomas and the late Milford Stevens.
Karen worked in sales and was a Shoe Specialist at Belks. She enjoyed her coworkers, going to antique shops, camping, working crossword puzzles and especially watching her granddaughter play basketball. Most of all she loved and cherished her family.
She was preceded in death by her father.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, William Thomas Scott; her mother and step-father, Delphia and Dan Thomas; step-mother, Wanda Stevens; one son, Jake Scott (Caitlyn) of Somerset; one daughter, Samantha Scott (Robert Reed) of Somerset; brother, Darren Thomas (Robin) of Michigan; sisters, Angel Brimm (Norman) of Lawrenceburg, KY; Ashley Long and Kristy Stevens Porter; grandchildren, Kyler Hill, Paylee Hill, Riley Scott, Kiara Scott, Alexander Reed and Frankie Reed.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 17, 2023 at Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Burial will be in Southern Oaks Cemetery.

I am glad to have had the chance to work alongside you- it may have only been a little over a year, but you sure were a light. May your family find strength in the cherished memories.
Condolences to Karen’s family. I was so sorry to hear this. I thought she was the nicest person! She helped me at Belk’s many many times over the years. She certainly made a positive difference in the lives of many people. I will miss her very much.

To the family of Karen.i am a customer of belks and i so mutch loved,Karen.she,always had a beautyful smile for me and was always never to tired to help,me out.I,just seen that we shared the same birthday,toghter,thats,why i felt,very close to her.i went to belks and i got told that she passed away,my heart broke instandly.she mayby,is gone but not out of my heart because she always be a very bright star in my life.i,looked at her register and i still can see her behind it.i will be always,heartbroken over her loss but she always will be,in my heart and mind.i am sending very heartfelt prayers for the family and friends.my,heart,is hurting for you.i wish,i got one more hug from karen,because i always did.her,smile brightend up the whole world around here but now,when i be looking at the nightsky,i see another bright,beautyful star in.my sight.she,always will be my treasured friend and i am glad for her,that she is not hurting anymore.sending,lots of prayers,too.sorry,for writting such a long story but karen was such a very special and kind human being and she dont deserve any less.sincerely,ingrid cummings,a good friend that will miss her,forever
