Dorothy Agnes (Hays) Combs, born March 24, 1936, passed away on August 31, 2013. Her husband, Marcus Combs, preceded her in death.
She was saved and baptized during a summer revival at Noble, Kentucky in 1953. She was currently a member of East Somerset Baptist Church.
Dorothy was an elementary school teacher. She taught in eastern Kentucky, western Kentucky and Ohio where she retired. She was a graduate of Western Kentucky State College (now WKU) and earned her Master’s degree while teaching in St. Clairsville, Ohio.
She is survived by six siblings: Virginia Marshall (Bob) of Xenia, Ohio; Hildred Hudson (Travis) of Dayton, Ohio; James Gribble Hays of Dayton, Ohio; George Lewis Hays (Judy) of Dayton, Ohio; Ruth Smith (Kirby) of Dayton, Ohio; and Adna Clemons (EB) of Somerset, Kentucky and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James Chalmer Hays and Tottie Lee Noble Hays; sister in law, Kathern.
She enjoyed listening to Christian music. She especially enjoyed helping others. She was totally dedicated to caring for her two dogs, Misty and Lila, and working with her flowers. She also liked sewing and knitting.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 11 o’ clock at Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 P.M with Dr. Darvie Fenison officiating.
Interment will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will E.B. Clemons, James Gribble Hays, George Lewis Hays, Kirby Smith, and Jason Clemons.
