Shirley D. Davis, age 85, of Burnside, Kentucky, passed from this life on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at the Jean Waddle Care Center.
Shirley was born on October 13, 1937 to the late John Nelson and Lois Keith Nelson in Yamacraw, McCreary County, Kentucky.
She enjoyed fishing, Cincinnati Reds and UK Basketball. She enjoyed working in the church food pantry. She cherished her family.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, brother, John Nelson Jr., sister, Betty Jo Coffey and half-brother, Tommy Nelson.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons, Greg (Jenny) Davis of Marshes Siding, Ky; Tim (Linda) Davis of Algodones, NM; daughters, Debra (Jeff) Hughett of Fairborne, OH; Tammy (Randy) Thacker of Ferguson, Ky; sisters, Pam (Norman) Bryant of Bronston, Ky; Patty Loudermilk of Monticello, Ky; Kim Probus of Burnside, Ky; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
A private Graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Blue John Cemetery. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Shirley D. Davis.
Shirley, you will be missed. Too many memories to count, but every one of them full of strength and smiles. You’ll never know the impact you’ve had on my life, but I do recall thanking you more than once for raising my husband to be the man that he is. Soar high and free – and leave a few trout for me for when I get there. You’ll always be in my heart. Always.
My beautiful Momma you are my rock, my best friend and fishing buddy. I cannot believe you are no longer here with us and I will miss you all the days of my life.
I loved Shirley dearly. We bowled together on a team in the mid to late 80s (I think). She will be missed. I’ll send one up for all of you.
