Ben R. Carmack, age 73 formerly of Peoria, Illinois, but resided in Somerset, Kentucky since 1976, took the hand of Jesus to be led home Friday, February 15, 2013.
Born July 3, 1939 in Blandinsville, Illinois the youngest of five children and only son to Morris and Nellie Bennett Carmack. He married Merilea Curtis Carmack on December 4, 1960.
Surviving are his wife; Son, Jeffrey Carmack; two daughters, Jackie (Mark) Meeks and Jana (Jeff) Litton, all of Science Hill, Kentucky. Five grandchildren, Tony (Ashley) Meeks of Nancy, Kentucky, Benjamin (Jessica) Meeks of Somerset, Mariah Meeks, MaKailyn and Micheal Hines of Science Hill, Kentucky. 3 great grandchildren, Weston, Elijah, and Gracelyn Meeks. Sister, Lois Kreps of Los Angeles, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Robert, daughter, Kathleen Marie and 3 sisters.
Ben was a banker for 25 years. Owner of Carmack Ford in Wyoming, Illinois, for several years, Car dealer in Somerset, Kentucky. Self-employed in the furniture business until his retirement.
He accepted Jesus as his personal savior and was baptized at the Oak Hill Baptist Church in Somerset, Kentucky.
Ben truly believed that his wife and family were his greatest blessings.
A memorial services will be held to honor his life at Southern Oaks Funeral Home on Monday, February 18, 2013. Family and friends come together from 5-7 P.M. The services will be at 7 and officiated by our friend and Pastor Joey Simmons.
