John Henry Engle, Age 79, of the Oak Hill Community, passed away, Thursday, November 14, 2012 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Born October 14, 1933 in Leslie County, Kentucky to the late Isaac and Rebecca Wells Engle, he was a Kentucky Colonel, master craftsman, artist, coal miner and retired from Tecumseh Products. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bird watching, yard saleing, cooking, loved music and playing the guitar, gardening and growing roses. He also enjoyed spending time with his wife at the Alabaster Gift Box, time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and he was a member of New Direction Worship Center.
Survivors include his wife, Berniece Joseph Engle, whom he married January 31, 1959 in Leslie County, Kentucky; sons, John Cecil Engle, of Somerset, KY and Daniel Isaac (and April Ann) Engle, of the King Bee Community; daughters, Ronda Jo (and David) Boyd, Rebecca Pearl (and Larry) Pittman, Iretta Lynn (and Jim) Ashbrook, Kathy Deneice (and Bro. Eddie) Dick, all of Somerset, KY, and Like a daughter, Dr. Sandy (and Steve) Schuldheisz, all of Somerset, KY; sisters, Ona Howard and Kathy Fincher, both of Somerset, KY; ten grandchildren, Cristy (and Brian) Stigall, Tonya (and Jeremy) Baird, Carey Boyd and finace, Cody Gibson, Daniel (and Chaina) Engle, Jacob Engle, Lisa Engle, Jonathan “Ty” Dick, Brittany Pittman, Justin Dick and Jenna Dick; 12 great grandchildren, Austin, Ashtin, Allie, John David, Finn, Zachery, Liam, Fayden, Danny, Bodie, Will, and Jett; along with a host of many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Judy Sellers.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 17, 2012 after 5:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Sunday, November 18, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Dick, Bro. Roger Dykes, Bro. Dan Duncan and Bro. Doug Cox officiating.
Burial will be in Southern Oaks Cemetery, Somerset, Kentucky.
