James “Mike” Hughes, age 61, of Nancy, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday October 9th at Somerwoods Nursing and Rehab Facility. He was born on May 15, 1951 in Somerset to the late Wilburn and Vana Bernice Ping Hughes. Mr. Hughes was a dairy farmer and a retired custodian from Pulaski County High School. He was a member of the Calvary Temple Pentecostal Church, enjoyed U.K basketball, Reds Baseball, loved old time gospel music and his church.
Mr. Hughes leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Vickie Pierce Hughes whom he married on June 19, 1982 at Burnetta Baptist Church; son, Wally (Tasha) Hughes of Nancy; brother, Danny (Kathy) Hughes; sister, Shirley Muse; father in law, Wallace Pierce and mother in law, Jeree Pierce; He was also expecting his first grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marty Hughes; sister, Janet Wood; brother in law, Andy Muse.
Visitation services for Mr. Hughes will be Friday October 12, 2012 at 5 P.M. in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday October 13, 2012 at 1 P.M. in the Chapel of Southern Oaks with Bro. Homer Stephens and Bro. Troy McWhorter officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
