Rev. Roy Everett Vincent, 88, of Somerset, Kentucky, formerly of LaFollette, TN, passed from this earth into the loving arms of his Savior on Thursday, June 28th, at Summerwoods Rehab Center.
He was born June 15, 1924 in Lake City, TN to the late Dan and Addie Lee Vincent. He was a Southern Baptist Minister and farmer. He also served in the United States Army and was an Honorable Kentucky Colonel.
Roy was saved at an early age and active in the church. He was in his early thirties when he accepted the call from his Heavenly Father to preach the gospel. He attended Clear Creek Springs Baptist School of Ministry for two years and was ordained to preach in Ohio. He ministered in Ohio before returning to LaFollette, TN where he was interim pastor at Demory Baptist and East LaFollette Baptist Churches. Roy then ministered at Newcomb Baptist Church in Newcomb, TN. He was a pastor Rock Lick Baptist, McKinney Baptist, and Mt. Pleasant Baptist Churches in Somerset, Kentucky. At the time of his passing, he was a faithful active member of First Baptist Church in Somerset, Kentucky.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Pauline Claiborne Vincent, of 39 years; sons, Jerry Vincent and wife Gequitta, and Danny Vincent, all of LaFollette, TN; Roger Claiborne and wife LeAnn of Georgetown, KY, and Ronnie Claiborne and wife Cathy of Nancy, KY; Grandchildren Denise Ivy, Jackie Gipson and husband Bryan, of LaFollette, TN, Brook and Ronnie II Claiborne and Matthew Gibson and wife Kristina, all of Nancy, KY, Logan and Hollis Charles and Shauna Claiborne, all of Georgetown, KY; great grandchildren Kelsey Ivy and Sawyer Gipson of LaFollette, TN, and Kylee Gibson of Nancy, KY.
He is also survived by a brother Charles Vincent and wife Carolyn of LaFollette, TN, and a sister Ruth Vincent Martin and husband Joe W Martin of Jacksboro, TN, Pat Vincent of Elk Park, NC and several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his loving parents, his first wife Ruby Hill Vincent, four brothers Norvil Ray, J. Will, and Glenn Vincent, three sisters Grace Vincent Carroll, Jewell Vincent Hill, and Camilla Vincent Wallace, and several brother/sister in laws, nieces and nephews.
The Family will be receiving friends at Cross Funeral Home of LaFollette ,TN on Sunday, July 1st, from 6-8 P.M. and Southern Oaks Funeral Home, Somerset, Kentucky on Monday, July 2nd, after 5 P.M. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 3, at 10 A.M. at Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. C.E. Jacobs and Dr. French Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in the Mill Springs National Cemetery.
