Melba Nicholas age 97, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life Friday, August 21, 2020 at Somerset Nursing & Rehab.
Melba was born May 11, 1923 to the late George Burton and Sis Burton in Somerset, Kentucky.
She was an active member for 80 years of Oak Hill Baptist Church and loved to garden, sew and horses.
Melba was preceded in death by her parents George and Sis Burton, husband, Parker Lee Nicholas, brothers, Youless Burton, Aaron Burton, Allen Burton and sister, Gladys Bray and grandson, Dr. Kyle Patrick Stewart.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce L. Stewart (Larry) of Somerset, brother, Albert Burton (Elizabeth) Somerset, grandchildren, Daphne Tucker (Jason) of Somerset, great-grandchildren, Colton Tucker, Emily Kate Tucker, Lily June Tucker, Kameryn Stewart.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 1:00 P.M. Rev. Gary Phelps and Dr. Harold Brown officiating, burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Melba Nicholas.
