James “Lennie” Leonard Phillips, age 62, passed away on Tuesday, January 27th, 2026, at his home in Somerset, Kentucky.
Lennie was born in Oneida, Tennessee on May 16th of 1963, to the late Leonard Phillips and the Dorothy (Tapley) Phillips. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed being outdoors. He was an exceptional craftsman; he liked to work on vehicles and was a very talented carpenter.
He was preceded in death by his dad; and one brother, Robert Phillips.
Lennie is survived by his family whom loved him very much, which includes his mother, Dorothy Phillips, of Revelo, Kentucky; his son, Carl “PeeWee” Cochran, of Revelo, Kentucky; his sisters, Jennifer Phillips, of Science Hill, Kentucky, Leona Lyons, of Revelo, Kentucky, Rhonda Jones, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; brothers, Gary “Bruce” Phillips (Melissa), of Pine Knot, Kentucky, Millard Phillips, of Revelo, Kentucky; a grandchild, Keara Cochran, of Georgia; and several nieces of nephews.
A funeral service to honor Lennie will be held in the chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at 1:00pm EST. The family will receive friends for visitation after 12:00pm on Wednesday. Burial will be after the funeral service in the Rose Garden of the Southern Oaks Cemetery.
