Mavene Shadoan, age 80 of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Somerwoods Nursing and Rehab.
She was born on January 20, 1946 in Nancy, Kentucky, daughter of the late Sherman and Ruby Dick Carter. She had worked for Britthaven Nursing Home as an Aide and was a member of Living Waters Mission of Hope Church. She enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry Shadoan; son, Ricky Griffin; and a sister, Phyllis Green.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Shadoan of London; daughters, Vickie (Gary) Gregory of Monticello, Cheryl Couch of Burnside, and Melissa (Lee) Harrison of Somerset; grandchildren, Justin Roberts, Cindy (Daniel) Carlson, Joshua Bell, Brooklynn (Jeff) Clark and Courtney (Javier) Griffin; great-grandchildren, Annalee Bell, Ella Carlson, Benjamin Clark, Abigail Medina, Ruby Clark and Kaylee Carlson.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. David Lee Harrison and Kenneth Shadoan officiating. Burial will be in the Sweet Cemetery in Nancy. Pallbearers will be Daniel Carlson, Josh Bell, Justin Roberts, Kenneth Shadoan, David Lee Harrison and Gary Gregory.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
