Billy Ray Emerson, age 63, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Friday, January 9, 2026 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

Billy was born on April 5, 1962 in Somerset, Kentucky to Mary Emerson. He was an active member of Parkers Mill Baptist Church. He enjoyed camping, UK Basketball, and taking Bible classes at church.

Billy was preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Emerson, grandchildren: Brittany Emerson and Wyatt Morrissey.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his mother, Mary Wesley Emerson, his sons: Jason Emerson, Justin Emerson (Trinity), and Jaren Emerson (Jordan) all of Somerset, Ky; daughters: Jaleesa Colyer (Chris) and Janell Emerson all of Somerset, Ky; brothers: Hubert Emerson of SC; Russell Emerson (Deborah) of Kings Mountain, Ky; Timothy Emerson of Somerset, Ky; Brenda Hood (Gary) of Science Hill, Ky and Glenda Ashley also of Somerset;17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; along with a close and dear friend Susie Radford of Somerset, Ky.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 at 11am in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 1pm with Bro. Darry Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in Southern Oaks Cemetery.
