Matthew Scott Goff, age 30, of Russell Springs, Kentucky passed away on February 12th, 2025 of natural causes.
Matthew lived a life of service as evident from his time spent on various Pulaski County first response teams, including the Nancy Fire Department, Somerset Pulaski County Special Response Team, Somerset Pulaski County Rescue Squad, Burnside Fire Department and Somerset Pulaski County EMS. Although he had left public service to pursue other interests, Matthew’s willingness to help others in need remained steadfast. In death, Matthew has continued his legacy of service to others as an organ donor.
Matthew is survived by his wife Whitnie Wolsey; mother Wendy Goff; sister Emily (Jeremy) Goff; maternal grandmother Doris Waddle; aunt LaNette (Louie) Wright; paternal grandfather Bobby Goff; aunt Tammy Goff; uncle Randy (Jill) Goff; cousins Chandra Davis, Jon (Hali) Davis, Chelsea (Ty) Furlong, Katie (Zach) Davis; in-laws Earl Thomas (Elizabeth) Wolsey; childhood friends Wyatt Wooten, Tyler Ryan, Austin Daulton, and Kenny Glover; close friends Coy Harris and Logan Buis.
Matthew was preceded in death by his father Scotty Goff, maternal grandfather Joe Mack Waddle, paternal grandmother Ollie Overbay.
Matthew loved to spend time with his wife, raising a variety of farm animals and rehabbing wild animals. Matthew was a proud Christian and member of the First Apostolic Church of Somerset. Matthew earned his paramedic license and was named Paramedic of the Year. Matthew was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, and trapping. Matthew will be remembered for his calm demeanor, his ability to make light of any situation, his kind heart, and his award winning smoked ribs.
A celebration of life will be hosted by the Somerset Pulaski County Special Response Team at 123 Stigall Lane, Somerset, KY on Saturday, February 22nd at 2 p.m. Service to follow at 5 p.m. Donations can be made to Whitnie Wolsey via the following methods: Cash App: $WhitnieWolsey Venmo: @Whitnie-Wolsey PayPal: wwolsey@yahoo.com.
