Earl Mounce, age 80, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Friday, June 16, 2023 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Earl was born on April 25, 1943 to the late Alpha Mounce and Nora Hughes Mounce in Somerset, Kentucky.

He was of the Baptist faith. He was best known for playing guitar, singing gospel and country music, and enjoyed spending time with grandkids and family. He liked restoring old cars and guitars.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Alpha and Nora Mounce, son, James Edward Mounce, daughter, Sandra Mounce, brother, William “Billy” Mounce.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 59 years, Joyce Mounce, daughters, Peggy Strunk (Luther) and Lenora Brumley both of Somerset, Ky; 7 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 12 P.M. in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 2 P.M. with Bro. Vince Mullins and Brandon Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Wesley’s Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James Strunk, Jonathan Mounce, Matthew Joseph, Seth Walters, Curtis Wagner, Braxton Walters, Thomas Wagner and Kasen Joseph.
