Leona Jessie Brown age 78, of Bronston, Kentucky passed from this life Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Leona was born June 8, 1941 to the late Wilburn Cox and Letha Whisman Cox in Elliott County, Kentucky.
She was a member of Parkers Mill Road Baptist Church and enjoyed going to church and church socials. She owned her own florist, “Leona’s Floral Business”. She loved life, laughing and making others laugh, very supportive of her children and grandchildren, and enjoyed going to their events.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of fifty-two years, Alvis Brown.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory sons, Johnny Mack Brown (Dana) of Flatwoods, KY; Randy Brown (Lisa) of Ironton, OH; daughter, Sandy Williams (Mike) of Somerset, KY; sister, Thelma Ross-Ervin of Ironton, OH; sister-in-law, Muriel Salyers of Ceredo, WV; grandchildren, Sarah Carothers, Samuel Brown, Shyler Brown, Jacob Brown, Davis Brown, Allison Brown, Alan Williams, Kasey Williams, Chad Williams, Jessica Malone, Justin Hamm, Josh Hamm, Alissa Browning; great-grandchildren, James Carothers, Nolan Malone, Atlas Malone, and a host of friends and family.
A private family service will be held in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a private burial in Woodland Cemetery in Ironton, Ohio.
Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Leona Jessie Brown.
She was a great Mom who loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly and deeply. Never once in my life did I ever doubt or question my mother’s love. Will miss you very badly. With all my love, your eldest, Johnny Mack
To the family of Leona Brown. We are so very sad to learn of Leona’s passing, and so sorry we can’t be with all of you at this time and show our love for Leona and her precious family. I am sorry to hear of Leona’s passing. I enjoyed fellowshiping with her when we attended Parkers Mill. She was always smiling. Special prayers for Sandy. She and Leona were so close.
