Mr. James “Jim” Troxtel, age 79, of Burnside, passed from this life on Monday, September 18, 2017 at his residence.

He was born September 18, 1938 in Cabin Hollow, Kentucky son to the late Andrew Troxtel and Sarah Nevels Troxtel. Jim was a member of Grave Hill Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, mowing his yard, yard work, gardening, growing beautiful flowers, talking, and meeting new people. He also enjoyed farm work and working in hay. Jim took much pride in his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved to watch play. Many who knew Mr. Troxtel would say that he never met a stranger. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

Besides his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his wife; Judy Mayfield Troxtel, whom he married on June 1, 1963 in the Alcade Community, brothers; Donald, Hershel, and Thurman, sisters; Lucille Adams and Darlene Bowman, and two grandchildren.

Jim is survived by his daughters; Lora Ping and her fiancé Mike Silvers of Burnside, Lisa (Ronnie) Slavey of Somerset, Lindy (Barton) Mayfield of Indiana, Lana (Steve) Brown of Somerset, and Tonya (Tony) Slavey of Somerset, brothers; Gene Troxtel, Bob Troxtel, Jack (Janey) Troxtel, and Ray Troxtel all of Somerset, sister; Faye (Wayne) Warren of Science Hill, 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law; Sherry Troxtel of Somerset, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 4:00 o’clock p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 1:00 o’clock p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Watson officiating. Burial will be in the Southern Oaks Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mr. Troxtel’s Grand Sons.
