Kathy Lynn Phelps Grissom, age 56, of Forney, Texas, formerly of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at the Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Dallas Texas.  She was the wife of James “Jim” Neil Grissom.

She was born on January 23, 1961, in Somerset, Kentucky daughter of Joann Calder Rader and Gary Phelps.  Kathy received her Bachelor of Science Degree and was employed as a Registered Phlebotomist at the Baylor-Scott & White Hospital in Dallas, Texas.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Somerset.  She was a member of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club a special club for Police Officers and their families.  Kathy was a loving and vivacious woman, who enjoyed boating and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Kathy was preceded in death by Maternal Grandparents; Curtis and Hattie Calder, Paternal Grandparents; Johnnie and Louise Phelps and Step-Father; Earl Rader.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories; Parents; Joann Calder Rader and Gary Phelps of Somerset, Her husband; James “Jim” Grissom of Forney, Texas, Mother-in-law; Marylin Grunewald of Greenbrier, Arkansas, Father-in-law; Tom Grissom of Frankfort, Kentucky, Her sons; Jason Wesley and Justin Wesley of Somerset, and Daughter; Jaime Wesley and (Tyler) West of Somerset, Step-daughters; Krystal and (Trey) Landers of Katy, Texas, Brittany and  (Casey) Grimm of Balch Springs, Texas, and Courtney Grissom of Katy, Texas, Brothers; Gary Wayne Phelps, John Michael and (Ashley) Phelps. Her Sisters; Kim and (Mark) Wesley of Science Hill, Kristy and (Jonathan) Purcell of Somerset along with eleven Grandchildren and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and friends.

Visitation will be at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, May 29, 2017 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Funeral Services at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2017 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Dr. French Harmon and Brother David Pendley Officiating.  Interment will follow in the Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky.  Pallbearers will be Gary Wayne Phelps, Tyler West, Jason Wesley, Justin Wesley, Zachary Wesley and Corey Phelps. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Gastric-Cancer Foundation.
