Mr. John Norris Turner, age 85, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life on Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Diversicare of Clairborne, New Tazewell, Tennessee after an extended illness.
John was born on June 15, 1931 in the Ano Community, son of the late Everett Turner and Anna Arthur Turner. He was a retired worker of the Chrysler Manufacturing Company after 30 years dedicated service. John was member of Pine Hill Baptist Church and enjoyed Hiking, fishing, camping and spending time with his family. In his earlier years, he enjoyed raising cattle and farming. He was a kind and gentleman.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother; Delmer Turner, Sister; Faye Turner and two step-sons; Kevin Miller and Myron “Boo” Miller.
He is survived by his wife of several years, Mrs. Violet Turner, of Somerset, Kentucky. Sons; Randy (Ginger) Turner of Greencastle, Pennsylvania, Timothy Turner of Newport News, Virginia and daughter; Loretta McCormick of Yorktown, Virginia, Step-sons; Jesse (Joni) Debord of New Albany, Indiana, Gregory Miller of Somerset, Kentucky and Marty (Joy) Miller of Corbin, Kentucky. Three Brothers; Buren (Oma) Turner of Somerset, Kentucky, Vola (Wilma) Turner and Clell Turner all of London, Kentucky. Six grandchildren; Dennis, Gary, Jeremy, Jason, Laura, and Lorna, Six Great-grandchildren; Hunter, Gabrielle, Mekenzie, Anna Belle, Aidan, and Caleb. Three step-grandchildren, Angela, Beth, and Mick; and 2 step-great grandchildren, Sarah and Trent; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home, with Bro. Rick Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in the Southern Oaks Cemetery.
